How and why did these children and families in need come to find shelter at the NGO Avotra?
Avotra's fame has reached the hearts of most people in need and is well known as a shoulder to turn to whenever they need help and care. In addition, we work closely with legal institutions for the legal placement of children within Avotra.
To be accepted, took care and housed at the NGO, it is necessary to go through an interview process with the interested person in order to know their real situation and to determine the actions that should be taken.
To obtain full support, several factors must be taken into account. However, we always do what is necessary to help, in one way or another, those who knock on our door because that is our vocation.
• At the Salema Center :
The first contact rehabilitation (full care) of children and families in need are underway at the center of Salema. For this we have:
- An orphanage : where the supervisors welcome and take care of orphans (from 0 to 12 years old) in a large dormitory, with a small refectory, and a game room.
As a supplementary service,
- A food and clothing store: where supplies and clothing for children and staff are collected. In order to manage these resources, a storekeeper under the supervision of the main department is in charge.
- A kitchen and a refectory: for the preparation, cooking and distribution of the daily meal.
- Sanitary blocks: functional, and present in each department.
- A large amphitheater: chapel of officiants for worship, and place of staff training.
- A large room: for meetings of committee members and the reception of visitors and guests.
- Sponsorship service: almost all of our children and teenagers are sponsored by members of Avotra's partner organisations. Thanks to the godfathers and godmothers, the godchildren feel loved and are part of a new family. The exchange of correspondence is done through the person in charge of the sponsorship service. Transfers (contributions, parcels, mail, etc.) are specific to each godfather and/or godmother. The important role of management and organization of this system is assumed by the General Manager. Thus, the financial contributions coming from the godfathers and godmothers allow the total or partial related to general expenses for the godchild
(school fees, clothing, pocket money etc...)
• At the Betania Center :
- An orphanage: children, teenagers and young people educated at the LPCA (Christian Private College Avotra), another branch of our activities.
As a supplementary service,
- A kitchen and a refectory: for the preparation, cooking and distribution of the daily meal.
- A large room: which serves as a chapel and a meeting place.
